Q: Are there any limits to where/when I drive?

A: No! Your fuel budget is lighter for an entire year with $1.99/gal. gas – NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU DRIVE.

Q: How are miles per gallon, miles driven and fuel price calculations made?

A: First, we take the EPA estimated city MPG of your vehicle. Second,we look at miles driven during one OnStar® diagnostic cycle (approximately once per month). Third, based on residency, the system takes the average cost of gas in California or Florida based on AAA data, over the course of the latest OnStar diagnostic cycle. Last, but not least,we arrive at your credited funds – the difference between the state average gas price and $1.99 – multiplied by the number of gallons. All gas prices are based on the published price on the 15th of the month. This amount gets posted to your account about once a month.

Example 1: If you drive your vehicle 15,000 miles a year and the EPA estimated city MPG is 15, and gas averages $3.51 in your state, you’ll get 15,000 Miles ÷ 15 MPG x ($3.51 - $1.99) = $1,520.00 credited to your card.

Example 2: If you drive your vehicle 12,000 miles a year and the EPA estimated city MPG is 21, and gas averages $3.73 in your state, you’ll get 12,000 Miles ÷ 21 MPG x ($3.73 - $1.99) = $994.29 credited to your card.
